# What a Case is

*The exercise your judgment drills are built from — not a Cubelet, and never called one.*

## A Case is a judgment exercise, not a lesson

A Case puts you in front of a fictional organization and asks you to make a real call — what to ask, what to conclude, what to recommend. You're not picking the "right" fact off a list; you're reasoning through evidence the way you would on the job.

## What's inside one

Every Case has three parts:

* **A fictional organization** — a named company, a role you're playing, and a scenario with real stakes. In one recorded practice session, the Case was "The Conflicted Charter," an IS audit assessment at a fictional health system, Meridian Health Systems.
* **Evidence you gather** — facts and answers that surface as you ask questions and make moves, not a static document dump.
* **Ground truth** — a documented standard your determination is scored against, so the feedback you get reflects a real answer, not a guess.

## Produced separately from Cubelets — and never called one

A Case is built by a different process than a Cubelet, and the two are never interchangeable in cubelet.ai's language. A Cubelet teaches a concept across six faces; a Case tests whether you can apply one. You won't see a Case referred to as "a cubelet" anywhere in the product or in these docs.

## Where you practice a Case

You reach a Case from inside a Cubelet: open the Cubelet you've been studying and select its **APPLY** action — "06 · APPLY — Judgment simulator — test your reasoning — Start →". That launches a scored session built around a Case for that exact competency.
