# Key terms

*This page defines the handful of words cubelet.ai uses in a specific way, in plain language.*

## Cubelet

A Cubelet is the atomic unit of content on cubelet.ai — one focused concept, broken into six faces: **WHAT** it is, **WHY** it matters, **HOW** to do it, **WHERE** it shows up, and **WHEN** to apply it, plus **APPLY** — a hands-on judgment exercise for that concept. You read WHAT, WHY, HOW, WHERE, and WHEN as tabs in the Cubelet reader; APPLY is a separate "Judgment simulator" action that tests whether you can actually use what you just learned. Every Cubelet is scored before it's published, so what you see has already cleared a quality bar.

## Case

A Case is a practice exercise: a fictional organization with realistic evidence, where you have to make a judgment call — not just recall a fact. Cases are what your practice drills and Rooms are built from; scoring a Case well is what moves you toward a credential.

## Gap

Your Gap is the difference between the judgment a role actually requires and where your diagnostic shows you are today. cubelet.ai's diagnostic, run from Home, maps your Gap so your studying and practice can target exactly what's missing, instead of starting from zero.

## Competency

A Competency is a specific, named skill or judgment capability — the thing a Cubelet teaches and a Case tests. Competencies are the shared thread connecting your diagnostic, your study content, and your credential: what you're diagnosed on, what you study, and what you're credentialed for are all the same competencies.

## Room

A Room is a focused space for live or guided practice — for example the Coaching Room for getting help, or a domain-specific simulator Room for a scored scenario. Open a Room from the room button in the top bar.

## Board

A Board is one document put in front of a panel of AI reviewers. Unlike a Case, the document is **yours** — not fiction — and the panel's job is to react to it rather than to score you. See [The Review Board](/the-review-board.md).

## Convener

The convener is the person who called a Board — you. On a Board you aren't the learner being taught; you're the one running the meeting, and the panel addresses you by name.

## Dossier

The dossier is a Board's written output: every issue the panel raised, each reviewer's position on it, how serious they think it is, and the exact passage of your document they're reacting to.

## Passport

Your Passport is your credential record. As you score Cases, cubelet.ai compiles verifiable credentials onto your Passport — proof of demonstrated judgment, not just study time — which you can share with a link.
